I am risk taker and a dividend investor, My wife and I have invested in the S&P500, both through my TSP with the government, and through fidelity in her 401-k. Cashed out 270k from the S&P and invested with a Fin-Planner, MonicaMary Strigle. Until around 3 years ago we were 100% in the s&p after over 30 years. I’m retiring at the end of this month at 62, while my wife will retire next year at 60. Under Monica, I bought Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano during 2022. I got 173% gains in 2023. I anticipate further gains in the upcoming months of 2024, with additional speculative assets in play, such as my recent shorting of the Chinese Index. Currently have 3.7 million in our tax deferred savings. I am putting this out there for anyone looking for how to help themselves in this time of crisis.

Timing is impeccable! We r on our way to an Open house which i think is our dream waterfront home. Something we’ve been dreaming of since we were a young couple and so we invested in rentals over the years. Now, we can sell off a couple of rentals to afford this home but now I’m having serious doubts. Why would I pay higher house payments on taxes, insurance, etc? Also, far from my other rentals and places im accustomed to. Maybe just stay in beach front resorts once in a while will do! 😅

A sample scenario would be helpful but not included in this YT video. Assume typical 5% match and $100k salary (22% Federal Tax Bracket): employee needs ($5,000 / 0.78 =) $6,410.26 pretax income for $5,000 Roth 401(k) contribution so ($6,410.26 - $5,000.00 =) $1,410.26 federal tax paid by employee. Likewise employer contributes $5,000 pretax income (for which employer receives tax deduction) and employee pays $1,410.26 to convert to Roth 401(k). Above $200k (32%+ FTB) employee should likely favor traditional 401(k) contribution.

i know that i cannot contribute to Roth IRA the year i win the lottery. But what about the subsequent years after you win the lottery? Example, in year 1 you make 50K in income. but you win 1 million dollars in lottery. Your magi comes to 1million + 50k. So you are not eligible to contribute in Roth IRA for this year. Since your income is above 146k as a single person But, Are you eligible to contribute 7k in roth ira in Years 2,3,4,5,6 and so on... because your income those years are still only 70k in those years? Assuming you keep 1 million dollars in a bank account earning interest of 10k. So 60k (earned income) + 10k(interest) = 70k. (This is well below the 146k limit)

Thanks for this episode! I think I like the shorter ones, and Jack, you are great to listen to! (I sometimes get lost in those really long winded questions and episodes). Andi, appreciate your reading ability 😉

Nice! Once they have earned income you can. Paper route, babysitting, yard work, child actor... baby model?? Here's a couple more recent YMYW discussions on the topic of custodial Roth IRAs: ua-cam.com/video/yHzeFH8YsSk/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/p-qaBjNpMpA/v-deo.html

Great video. To transfer a solo 401k from one custodian to another, one needs to amend or restate the existing plan. You do not and should not open a new plan with the new custodian.

Wife has a 401K (she is 55 now!) We have Rental Houses as well and don’t think we are going to need to take anything from her 401K (for living) and are wondering if we should convert her Regular 401K to ROTH money! (She has about 40% of her money in ROTH now and all money has been going to a ROTH now!) Anyways, we don’t have the money for the Taxes so, I’ll let the 401K pay them! This is legacy Wealth (we hope!)
